Instar

Instar is my debut EP! I wrote the songs on this project during my freshman and sophomore year of college, and had the pleasure of recording it during the winter of 2024. All of it was recorded on GarageBand and most of it was recorded in my living room with my cat on my lap. I had so much support pulling this project together. From the talented musicians who helped with arrangement and performance, to my professors offering up their insight on mixes, to my family who was always there to help, this was absolutely a labour of love and I hope you enjoy it!

Oh!

Here's what people thought about Instar!

"No tepid, dip-a-toe-in-the-water introduction, the six-track Instar is the product of a theater-trained vocalist and music student at Bennington College. A natural mezzo-soprano, Golden puts what she describes as a "sapphic spin" on indie pop-- It's a candy-coated mix of indie pop and Americana, blended with skill by a capable and intriguing new songwriter."

                                                                                                       -- Chris Farnsworth, Seven Days

"Underlined by sensitive, articulate music, Instar is rendered even more gorgeously appealing by the satiny voice of Lilly Golden."

                                                                                                       -- Randy Radic, V13 Media

"Instar encapsulates the journey of youthful discovery as well as vulnerable and heartfelt emotion. It beautifully balances these aspects in a playful yet authentic manner. The entire EP was recorded in her childhood bedroom, and boldly showcases the highs and lows that take place during young adulthood."
